Caregiver Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) – Foundational Family Services
This workshop is intended for family members and caregivers who would like to enhance their skills in managing crisis situations, and learn about de-escalation techniques. Participants will be provided with an overview of the verbal and non-verbal communication concepts and strategies taught in the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NVCI) training program that can help in the support and care of family members, or people they support, with Autism, both at home and in the community.
Please note: Participants will not receive a certificate of completion, or become NVCI certified.
As a result of participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:
- describe how to respond to various levels of crisis behaviours
- recognize the importance of responding to crisis situations in a calm manner to influence a positive outcome
- describe the decision-making matrix when assessing risk behaviour
- apply a framework to help guide caregivers and individuals in distress through a process of re-establishing the relationship
