DSO: Technology to Support Independence
In this session, we explore a range of assistive technologies that can help to promote independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Creating a person-centered Housing and Support Plan is a vital step towards helping individuals live the life they choose. One of the biggest challenges families face is finding the right supports to make independent living sustainable.
While technology can’t replace human connection, it can reduce the need for costly “just in case” supports by fostering greater independence and confidence.
Topics will include:
- Smart Home Technology
- Activity Trackers and Wearable GPS Devices
- Smartphone Apps for Daily Activities and Routine
