Healthy Relationships And Sexuality: Strategies To Support Persons With Autism Spectrum Disorder

This workshop will support parents and caregivers, and professionals in understanding relationships, boundaries, consent, sexuality and puberty in the context of supporting persons with a diagnosis of ASD of any age or stage. Participants will leave with increased knowledge about these topics and tools to begin or continue education with the persons they support.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • identify myths about sexuality, relationships and intimacy
  • describe physical, social and emotional changes that come along with puberty
  • describe levels of relationships and consent
  • identify potential strategies for skill development

Recommended Prerequisites: Fundamentals of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Beyond Friendship: Supporting Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Understanding the Social World
