Let’s Go Back To School: Helping Persons With Autism Spectrum Disorder Transition Back To School – Foundational Family Service
This 2-hour workshop will provide parents and caregivers with strategies to support their child or youth with the transition back to school. Transitioning from home to school means significant changes to routine, scheduling and social interactions. This workshop will discuss the types of transitions involved, the use of visual supports, and create an understanding of how to assist with reintegration into the school’s social environment
As a result of participating in this workshop, participants will be able to:
- identify why the transition back to a school environment may be challenging for children and youth
- describe strategies to support child and youth during these school-related transitions
- provide examples of ways to implement the discussed support strategies
